As friends get further away and our lives get busier, we want to be able to still share our lives with friends and family

"We goin a B's simming lesson!"

Autumn loves to serenade us as we drive away from the house.  Each time its the same tune and she says, "We're going to ___________________."  For the past 2 weeks Bennett has been taking swimming lessons and she sings each time we go.  She loves them almost as much as he does!

We are so proud of our little man!

Happy Birthday Grandma!

The perks of being a teacher

One major perk of being a teacher is that you have the whole summer off.  One perk of having friends who are also teachers is mid week play dates! Here is the first of many...

Jana Alayra

The kids and I went to a kids' worship concert at our church.
Poor Luke had to work late.
We met up with Jordy, Darcy, and Jolie.

Jana Alayra was great!

Getting a little closer

She had kids come on stage by age group.  She called for all 4 year olds and, much to everyone's surprise, Bennett just walked right up on stage.

Jolie decided to join him

Those 3 sure are cute together

A fun night seeing tons of kids singing about Jesus.

Happy Father's Day!

We had a lovely day of church, purchasing some home accessories, lunch at Five Guys, naps, and dinner at the beach with the Szabo family.

Overall, great day!

The beloved pond

I title this post with a tiny bit of sarcasm.
Don't get me wrong, we love our pond, our fish, our turtles.  But...it does cause a little more work for us.  And when I say "us," I really mean Luke.  I try to help out (and I would like to do more but I am usually just corralling 3 children), but the heavy duty/gross work mostly falls on Luke's shoulders.

We had a leak in the pond (or so we thought), and plus, it was time to clean it out.
We decided to go for it Memorial Weekend.

Step 1: Drain the pond

Step 2: Catch all of the goldfish, mosquito fish, turtles, & sharks

Step 3: Transport (in a trash can strapped to the back of our truck) all of our friends up our long driveway to their "temporary home"

Step 4: Set up the "temporary home" in the garage

Step 5: Lunch and The Jungle Book in the garage to occupy the kids while we continue working

Step 6: Pressure wash the liner (pushing all of the "gunk" out the bottom drain)

Step 7: Re-engineer the "temporary home" due to feisty turtles and flying fish

Step 8: After naps (still working), continue to make sure the kids don't hurt themselves with all the fun stuff laying around

Step 9: Scour the liner for leaks, patch some holes, replace some rocks, reseal waterfalls, etc.

Step 10: Start refilling

Step 11: Reintroduce the species into the pond (minus 2 sharks & one goldfish...our turtles went Discovery Channel on them!)

Step 12: Enjoy the nice, clean pond again!

"Mush"

Since Coleman has this shirt, Bennett & Autumn call Coleman's rice cereal/oatmeal baby food "mush".  Hilarious.  Here is his first encounter with the stuff.

Try #1

Still not totally into it...but improving every meal.

4th grade

My 4th grade job share is with my friend Kris.
Mix Szabo, with her last name, Hejny, and you get Szany!
So we are Team Szany.
One of our wonderful parents made this AMAZING drawing to cover our classroom door.  This picture does not do it justice or show any of the intricate detail, but you get the picture.

Does it look like us?

Outdoor fun

For Bennett's birthday we gave him a kite.  He was so excited to go to the park and use it.
We went early to softball one week so that he could play with it.

Don't know if I ever mentioned...I am now PLAYING softball again!  Woo-hoo!
